Is it the best time or worst time to date?

The pandemic crisis has brought life as we know it to a screeching halt. We are shelter-in-place 24/7 for weeks on end.  It gets old pretty quick as days drift together into one big blob of time.

Chances are you are adjusting to your new normal checklist...

Travel? No

Eating out?  No, take-out only

Going to the office? No

Working out at the gym? No

Dating? Not sure

Are you waiting to date?  For many the thought has crossed their mind.

The truth is you’re home alone and you want to connect with others. The isolation from social distancing is actually increasing the desire for a partner right now. Others feel the same.

While it isn’t the best of times to date, it is a great time to find love.

Google searches for finding love are up 28%

Tinder said it is seeing a 15% increase in daily messages and Bumble is seeing a 21% increase in messages.

Even Andrew Cuomo shared “Being alone in your apartment for virtually 24 hours a day for days and days in this fearful situation and there’s no one to lay on the couch with and watch TV with, and no one to hold. That’s terrible.”

What to do in this unusual time?

It’s a personal choice, yet if you are ready to find love you can take advantage of the benefits

Singles who live alone have more down time. This means you will be able to get to know someone better, even if you don’t meet in-person for weeks.

  • Be Proactive. If you are on a dating site/app, be proactive and reach out if you see someone that interests you. If you have friends that have been trying to set you up, let them know you’re ready.

  • Embrace the Video Date.  In this digital age, you can easily meet via video after the first introduction.  Start with a virtual coffee, and move on to a virtual dinner. As for video solutions you can try Zoom or Google Hangouts without having to share your phone number.

It’s a great time for love. Values are clearer to us all during a time of crisis. Know what you want from this one precious life. The beauty is you will get to know your date better than if you were meeting in-person. Let me know what you decide. If you decide to find love, let me know how it goes..
